As I close up 2017, I am thankful for what it has given me: a starting foundation for my adult life. I grew closer to Jesus and feel so much more filled with his Spirit. I started this lovely blog. I started living a healthier and cleaner life. I started my pursuit of nursing. I started my pursuit of Young Living Essential Oils. I started applying myself. I started my journey to develop the qualities and characteristics of a woman I want to be.
It was a good year.
I want to end this year and start this next year on a little d e t o x.
Now that word may freak you out, as it did for me for a long time. BUT, the fact of the matter is, we need to detox our bodies at least once a year. It is essential to gut health, thyroid function, immune support, metabolism, cell regeneration and so much more.
So, I am finishing off this year and STARTING a detox.
On my list of things to achieve throughout this detox, here are a few of my to-do’s:
- Detox my body through nutrition, juices, and LOTS of water. Water is very important in detoxing your body. I like to infused lemon essential oil or a citrus oil in my water to give my metabolism an extra kick! Juices, smoothies and detoxing veggie shots are also on the menu. You can read about my fruit & veggie only fast here! Hydration is so important for your body, it is constantly craving water and hydration. Read what I wrote on the Importance of Water and why in the world you are suppose to drink so much of it!
- Detox my body from toxins through heat and sweat. You can have an at-home toxin detox by heating up a (very) hot bath and sitting in it for 5-10 minutes. The hotter, the better and more effective. I would also recommend infusing this bath with lavender or eucalyptus to promote a higher level of sweat and toxin excretion. I, however, am doing my toxin detox through Hot Yoga. I am attending one Hot Yoga class per day for an entire week. I have my membership at Soul Sweat in Fort Worth, check it out! If you have never attended a hot yoga session… go attend one ASAP, now, pronto! They are my current preferred method of detoxing and toning my body. You will be surprised of the strength it takes to perform a class and the amounts of sweat that is left on the mat, so remember to hydrate!
- Detox my body, boost my metabolism and shed excess fat tissue through full-body workouts. It is important to remember that detoxing is hard on the body and, therefore, you must take caution when pushing your strength and workouts. Again, this is why I choose Hot Yoga, but I am still attending a few Spin Classes, performing some cardio and even dropping in on a boxing class! Read up on the Importance of Exercise and why you should take the time out of your busy day to get motivated and moving!
Now, as that may seem overwhelming, it honestly isn’t as hard or complicated as it seems. It just takes a juice or smoothie meal replacement, maybe a little food preparing, copious amounts of water bottle refills, a workout, a detox bath and/or for me, attending hot yoga once a day.
I also pair my detoxes with Young Living’s supplements and internal essential oils. I am taking Digest + Cleanse capsule, Ningxia Red, Life 9 probiotic, Inner Defense, Mineral Essence, Super C, a lot of DiGize essential oil and Lemon oil!
