The latest and greatest health topic recently: the recent documentary 'What The Health'. This documentary I viewed on Netflix recently gave me the impression that I was eating a lot of chemicals and junk, and if I continue to eat this way I will eventually end up getting diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, cancer or diabetes.
While most of the documentary was driving fear into my mind and lifestyle, I started researching other perspectives. I would love for you to check out a trusted role model, Dr. Jim Bob Haggerton, and listen to what he has to say about What The Health, click here!
While most of the claims made in this documentary are very valid and true, there are a lot of misconceptions with their research. While, most of their research studies were taken from one single company sponsored by the Humane Society, none of their research studies were conducted more than once. The benefit of a peer reviewed article is for a doctor to review it and call it accurate and proven, which in this case is true. But correlation DOES NOT mean causation!!!
It is okay to eat meat, but quality and source matters heavily! Meat has 5 times the amount of iron, proteins and other minerals that are essential to your body function. Fats found in fish help with overall heart and brain function. It is proven on many research studies that intaking a diet low in fats leads to many heart problems and other disease progressions. You need a diet HIGH in FAT. A diet that lack fats cause a lot of medical complications, the biggest being kidney function.
Overall, some facts that should be taken from this documentary are very true and very accurate: If we do not change our American Diet, we are headed into great heartache (pun intended). Processed foods are in fact awful for your body. Most of the well-known research centers are taking money from the same companies that cause problems. The government is corrupting most of the food & messages we are intaking. Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease and cancer are the three most common cause of death in America. We do need to look at the problem and prevention of disease, rather than the symptoms and cure.
I hope this helped ease your mind in ways, I highly recommend you check out this video by Dr. Haggerton. Displayed below:
