Over the past year I have fallen in love with smoothies. They are so easy to make, full of nutritional goodness and tasty too! There isnt a crazy beautiful method to blending a smoothie, but i want to walk yall through my favorite recipes i make for myself on a typical basis.
The most important thing to remember about smoothies, is that you do NOT want to forget about your veggies. Seriously, dont expect to make a smoothie with only sugary fruits in it, it is almost a waste of your time! Then you will just get a glycemic spike and crash in an hour. Try to balance your smoothie with a veggie-fruit 1:1 ratio.
Some little tricks I like to do:
I only ever use half a banana in my smoothies, just because of the crazy-high sugar load in bananas. And half of one still creates that super sweet banana taste!
I blend for a good 3-5 minutes to get it fully blended and not chunky.
Add your frozen ingredients first and your liquids last.
Frozen banana (half)
1/2 cup berries (i like blueberries or strawberries)
Handful of spinach
Spoonful of almond butter
Cocao powder - A superfood, optional
Pure Protein Complete Powder from Young Living - Chocolate - for great nutrients, amino acids, digestive enzymes and protein.
1/4 cup Riced cauliflower
1/2 cup pineapple
1/2 cup spinach or kale
